Excess stomach acid can cause symptoms such as heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux. Cranberries have an alkaline effect on the body, which can help neutralize stomach acid and provide relief from these symptoms.

How to Make Cranberry Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey (optional)
  • A few slices of fresh ginger (optional)
  • A squeeze of lemon juice (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Boil the Water

  • Start by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot.

2. Add  the  Cranberries

  • Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of fresh or frozen cranberries to the pot. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the cranberries cook for about 10-15 minutes until they are soft and start to burst.

3. Optional Additions

  • For added health benefits and flavor, you can add a few slices of fresh ginger to the pot. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and can help soothe the stomach. A squeeze of lemon juice can also enhance the flavor and provide additional vitamin C.

4. Strain the Tea

  • After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the mixture into a teapot or directly into your cup using a fine mesh strainer to remove the  cranberry solids and ginger slices.

5. Sweeten to Taste

  • If desired, add 1-2 tablespoons of honey to sweeten the tea. Honey has soothing properties and can help coat the stomach lining.

6. Serve and Enjoy

  • Pour the strained cranberry tea into a cup and enjoy it warm. For best results, drink this tea 1-2 times a day, preferably on an empty stomach to maximize its benefits.
