Air-fried mozzarella sticks are a healthier alternative to the traditional fried version, offering the same crispy exterior and gooey interior without the need for deep frying. Here’s a simple recipe to make air-fried mozzarella sticks at home:
Ingredients:
– 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 2 large eggs, beaten
– 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
– Cooking spray
– Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions:
1. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half to make 24 shorter sticks.
2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls. Place the flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
3. Coat each mozzarella stick first in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it evenly with breadcrumbs. Press gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the cheese stick. Repeat this breading process for all the mozzarella sticks.
