Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup key lime juice
  • Zest of 2 key limes (about 2 tablespoons)

For the Key Lime Cream Cheese Icing:

  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons key lime juice
  • Zest of 1 key lime (about 1 tablespoon)
