Preheat oven 180C and line a tin with baking paper.

In a bowl, sift together flour, bicarb, cinnamon and salt.

In a separate bowl, add eggs, sugar, oil and whisk for 1 minute.

Add mashed bananas, 1/2 the walnuts, vanilla and chopped dates. Whisk together for another minute.

Add the dry ingredients to form a sloppy batter. Pour into the prepared tin and top with remaining walnuts.

Bake on middle shelf for around 1 hour and 10 minutes. Test before taking out of oven. Cover with a clean tea towel when it comes out of oven and allow to cool.
